Description

We won a limited design competition organised by Harbour Trust to convert an old army barrack into a 76 place childcare centre. The design attempts to retain the existing army barrack character of the existing building. The "regimented" look of the building is maintained with openings are carefully inserted into the heritage significant facade. The newly inserted timber cladding awning provides weather protection and transition from indoor to outdoor areas. Also, the internal courtyard provides a flexible space for play, gatherings, dance and meeting place for kids and parents.
